Dividers And Packing Criteria For Transportable And Storable Goods
Box dividers are a useful accessory to use when packing fragile items or essentials that you would like to keep organized. Choose a box divider type and some additional packing supplies that will help you prepare the household goods that you will be temporarily placing in storage.
Divider Types
Paperboard, cardboard, and plastic are three divider types that will keep your possessions separated and protected. Paperboard is usually the flimsiest of the three divider types. Paperboard packing supplies are useful for keeping holiday decorations and other lightweight items separated while they are being transported or stacked. Cardboard dividers work well inside corrugated containers.
A packing supply retailer may sell cardboard cartons that already contain this divider type within them. If not, however, it is fairly easy to match up a cardboard divider with the carton size that will be used for packing purposes. Simply acquire the dimensions of each carton and purchase a series of dividers that will each adequately fit inside of a carton.
Plastic dividers are thick and rigid. They are best suited for any possessions that may be exposed to humid or moist conditions. Plastic dividers can easily be cleaned, making them one of the most useful packing supplies that you may ultimately invest in.
Usage Guidelines
When shopping for dividers, consider how many slots each product has. The number of slots will dictate how many items can remain separated while they are being transported or stored. Analyze the size of the items you will be packing, to ensure that the slot size will coincide with the size of your possessions. Purchase packing tape, a dispenser, a marker, and labels.
The additional packing supplies will allow you to seal boxes and label them. Once you have all of the items needed to prepare your possessions, sort through the items that you will be placing within a storage unit. Separate the items by type and size. Then, assemble all of the cartons that you will be using.
If you are going to pack some of the items inside plastic tubs, place one or more dividers inside of each one. Use crumpled-up paper or foam to fill empty space within each divider. Dividers should be used to hold single items that are fragile. If you will be placing some soft, unbreakable items within the cartons or plastic tubs, you can place more than one item inside each divided section.
